This legend wrote his cover letter in the style of a childrens story - Debut

This legend wrote his cover letter in the style of a childrens story - Debut Here at Debut, were huge fans of anyone that defies tradition during the job application process. Heck, thats what we came here to do in the first place, right? But this right here, this is sensational. This is Chris Brosnahan. According to his Twitter bio, Chris is a 37-year-old writer, content marketing professional and occasional stand-up comedian. Chris caused quite the stir on Twitter yesterday when he revealed that he had applied for a copywriting job with a childrens publisher. Which would be pretty mundane except hes only gone and written in the style of an actual childrens story. Let the man himself tell you the full story I applied for a copywriting job with a childrens publisher, so I wrote my covering letter as a childrens story. Because why not. pic.twitter.com/uZwSKQwmz0 â€" Chris Brosnahan (@ChrisBrosnahan) 20 December 2016 Naturally, a whole host of people are tripping over themselves to give Chris genius its proper due. @ChrisBrosnahan As someone currently writing cover letters, I both tip my hat and crumple into tears. Bravo! â€" Sarah-Mary (@fouroclocknews) 21 December 2016 @ChrisBrosnahan @Louiestowell oh my god this is amazingggg, and you have set the bar TOO HIGH Ill never be hired now XD â€" ? neverwhere ? (@neverwhere) 21 December 2016 @ChrisBrosnahan I once wrote my CV in the style of Under Milk Wood and an American sitcom when I applied for a greetings card job!Good luck! â€" Lee Harris (@LeeAHarris) 20 December 2016 One Tweeter did have a similar idea @ChrisBrosnahan I once wrote my CV in the style of Under Milk Wood and an American sitcom when I applied for a greetings card job!Good luck! â€" Lee Harris (@LeeAHarris) 20 December 2016 But everyone agreed on one thing @ChrisBrosnahan I like this *very* much and if I was their recruiter Id be calling you up right now â€" ephemeragrrl (@ephemeragrrl) 20 December 2016 @ChrisBrosnahan If that doesnt get you the job, let alone the interview, then Id be surprised af. #CoverLetterGoals â€" The Bookshelf Club (@bookshelfclub) 21 December 2016 This guy should at least get an interview. 10/10 for creativity! https://t.co/nkDEhQ0fUk â€" Kerri Turner (@KerriNTurner) 20 December 2016 We asked the man himself why he felt he had to approach his application this way. And we loved his answer: Writing a cover letter like this is a little bit of a gamble, but its about showing rather than telling. They may not like it, but if they do, Ill be the guy that wrote the story rather than the 78th applicant. Its the first time Ive tried an approach like this, but it wont be the last. We feel like all us Debutants, who think outside of the box when it comes to recruitment, can relate and learn from this. So from the bottom of our collective heart, good luck Chris from all of us at Debut. We hope this story has a happy ending! Connect with Debut on Facebook and Twitter
